Climb of Mount Suphan Combined with Ararat

Trekking Mount Süphan with Ararat Mountains. This program allows us to explore Turkey’s two highest mountains. First, we will ascend Mount Süphan, which will serve as an acclimatization climb before heading to Mount Ararat. Standing at 4,058 meters, Mount Süphan is notable for its beauty and striking appearance; it is an impressive volcano that towers over Lake Van. The city of Van, located 180 km from Mount Ararat, boasts a rich historical and cultural center.

Doğubayazıt

You’ll be able to see the city and the lives of the people living at the foot of the mountain. Bazaars, shopping arcades, and shops!

Sightseeing

Relax in the Turkish bath or with a shisha and a glass of chai.

Flavors of Kurdistan

Kurdish cuisine is famous for its lamb, eggplant, and roasted tomatoes. Baklava is also a must-try!

Program

Day 1
Arrival at Van airport. Transfer to the hotel. Visit to the historic center of Van. Overnight stay.

Day 2
After breakfast, we transfer to the Mount Süphan base camp at 2,650 meters. We will make a stop for refreshments along the way. At the camp, we will set up our tents and have a barbecue dinner.

Day 3
We summit Mount Süphan (4,058 m). We wake up around 1:00 AM and, after a hearty breakfast to fuel us, begin the ascent. We start with a steady pace along the mountain’s lower slopes. In about 6 hours, we reach the peak of Mount Süphan. We take photos and begin the descent to camp. After a rest, we pack up our gear. Transfer by car to a hotel in Dogubayazit, the town closest to Mount Ararat. Overnight stay in Dogubayazit.

Day 4
After breakfast, we travel by vehicle to an altitude of 2,200 meters, then hike on foot to Camp 1 (located at 3,300 meters); the hike takes approximately 5 hours. Arrival at the Mount Ararat camp; dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 5
We rise early for breakfast and, around 7:00 AM, ascend to Camp 2. We have an early dinner and rest, enjoying the views of Ararat from Camp 2 (4,200 meters).

Day 6
Around 1:00 AM, we wake up and gather in the dining tent. After a meal, we begin the trek to the summit of Mount Ararat (5,165 meters). After celebrating the summit, we descend to rest at Camp 2 for a few hours before returning to Camp 1. Overnight stay at Camp 1.

Day 7
A buffer day in case bad weather prevented us from sticking to the previous schedule, or a day to explore the area around Dogubayazit. Hotel accommodation (with breakfast) in Dogubayazit. Dinner on your own.

Day 8
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for return flights. End of services.

Included:
One hotel night in Van; all transfers in the city and mountain areas; English, Spanish, Turkish, and Kurdish-speaking guide; 2 hotel nights in Dogubayazit; all meals during the mountain expedition; horse support (20 kg per person); camping equipment (tents shared by two people, sleeping mats, cooking gear, tableware, etc.); meals at camp; climbing certificate; van-based tours (cultural, city, and lake tours); round-trip van transfers to/from Agri or Igdir.

Not Included:
International flights, visa, and travel insurance; Mount Ararat climbing permits (the Turkish government requires special permits to climb Mount Ararat; please allow 35 days for permit processing and email us the required details for each person).
