Mount Damavand Expedition

Trekking Mount Damavand, Iran: Mount Damavand is the highest peak in the Alborz mountain range—which stretches from the Armenian border to the Caspian Sea in northern Iran and ends at the borders of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan—reaching an altitude of 5,670 meters. Damavand is also the highest point in the Middle East and the highest volcano in Asia. It is an ideal mountain for mountaineers looking to take on 5,000-meter peaks.

Program

Day 1
Arrival in Tehran. Upon arrival at Imam Khomeini International Airport, transfer to the hotel in Tehran. Overnight stay at a 3-star hotel in Tehran. If the flight arrives early, there may be an opportunity to tour the city.

Day 2
After breakfast, we head toward the mountain. We travel by 4×4 vehicle to Camp 1 and spend the night there in tents.

Day 3
Today is an acclimatization day. In the morning, we hike up to Camp 2 (4,200 meters), spend some time there, and then return to our tents at Camp 1 for the night.

Day 4
Camp 1 – Camp 2 (4,200 meters above sea level). We return to Camp 2 to complete our acclimatization process, but this time we stay there overnight. We spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the summit push the following morning, sleeping in tents or the mountain shelter.

Day 5
Camp 2 – Damavand (5,710 m) – Camp 1 (3,200 m). After breakfast, weather permitting, we begin the ascent to the summit of Damavand. We reach Iran’s highest peak and enjoy the magnificent surrounding views. After a long day, we descend to Camp 1 or Camp 2 to rest. Overnight in a tent or shelter.

Day 6
Camp 2 – Tehran. From Camp 2, we head to the town of Polour, then transfer to our hotel in Tehran. After a few hours of rest, we can begin exploring the city and its major landmarks. Arrival at the hotel in the afternoon.

Day 7
After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Tehran for a day visit to Golestan Palace and Azadi Tower, and a cultural tour of the Grand Bazaar.

8 Day
Transfer of our group to Imam Khomeini International Airport; end of the tour.

Optional city tours of Isfahan, Shiraz, Persepolis, and Kashan available upon request.
