Trekking Mount Ararat

Climbing Mount Ararat Türkiye

Climbing Mount Ararat (Armenian: Արարատ; Turkish: Ağrı Dağı) is the highest peak in Turkey, Turkish Kurdistan, with 5,137 m, located in the eastern part of the country, Anatolia region, very close to the border with Iran and Armenia. It is an inactive volcano whose summit is covered with perpetual snow.

Climbing Mount Ararat is not technically demanding, but it does require good physical preparation, which makes it a great starting point for high altitude climbing. For the Christian religion, Mount Ararat is the place where Noah's Ark was deposited after the Great Flood. Supposed remains of the Ark have been found on some of its slopes. At its base, some Kurdish villages allow you to see the traditional nomadic life of this culture.
